Rahul Gandhi – the leader who delivers

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is clearly the leader of the masses. He regularly tries to intervene in the issues of the people, wherever it is. That is what we saw in Bundelkhand, Tappal and Bhatta-Parsaul. It was because of his intervention, the Central government approved a relief package for Bunkars and for the drought-hit Bundelkhand region. Recently after his visit to the drought hit areas in Maharashtra, he led a delegation to the Prime Minister and requested his help to find solution to the problems of the people in the affected area. Truly, Rahul Gandhi is a leader who delivers.

Rahul Gandhi: Only Congress has the courage to send the guilty to jail

“Give us (the Congress) five years. We will change UP. For the past 20 years you have been seeing what is happening in the state. If these political parties come again to the power they will continue looting you” Rahul Gandhi said while addressing a mammoth Congress rally in Uttar Pradesh as part of his Congress campaign in the state for the recently concluded Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

“This is not happening in other places. You go to Andhra or Delhi, you can see the development and they talk only about development. If anyone is found corrupt, the Government sends him to jail. Only Congress has the courage to do so,” argued the Congress General Secretary.

Rahul Gandhi urged the people “We should change UP and for that you should change your thought process. Uttar Pradesh is the biggest state in the country and this state can show the path for others. Only the people of UP can do it. We want a government who understands the problems of the people and listens to them”.

About his party the Congress General Secretary said “Congress Governments work for common man. It works for the poor, underprivileged, dalits, adivasis and all other sections of the society. We work for the progress of the entire people”.

“Rahul Gandhi continued “We (Congress) do not believe in any divisive ideology. If we make roads, produce electricity and water, entire people will be benefitted”. “In UP there is no balanced development. Some areas are developing but many other areas were ignored” said Rahul Gandhi.

Striking an emotional chord with the gathering, Rahul Gandhi added, “I have full faith in the people of youth. The moment you make changes in your thought process, your state will progress. I come to you, eat with you, stay with you. I feel angry when I see that the funds meant for the poor people go to the pockets of bureaucrats and ministers. Now give Congress a chance, and support us.”

While addressing a mammoth public rally in Barabanki during his recent campaign for Congress in the state of Uttar Pradesh, All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi slammed the non-Congress governments in the state for the lack of development in Uttar Pradesh. The Congress MP from Amethi alleged that the welfare funds sent by the Congress-led UPA Government at the centre are not reaching the poor man.

“The MGNREGA funds sent to the state are being pocketed by the BSP politicians and ministers. The state government is also not implementing the Janansi Suraksha Yojana (JSY) meant for helping the poor women. In all the Congress-ruled states, large number of women reap benefits of the scheme. But in UP even that policy is being misused by the state government. The funds are diverted to the pockets of the ministers and leaders,” said Rahul Gandhi.

Condemning the poor state of affairs in UP during the last 20 years under successive non-Congress governments, Rahul Gandhi said that three police officials who were investigating the NRHM scam were killed in the state. “For the past 20 years no development took place in UP. Corruption is rampant in the entire state. It is your money that is being wasted. It is your future that is getting affected. During the SP regime criminals were moved freely even inside the police stations. Our effort is to bring a common man’s government. A government that will help the poor, farmers and Dalits,” added the Congress leader.

Rahul Gandhi in Amethi visits a Congress worker’s home to pay condolence

Amethi: Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi who was on a three-day tour to Amethi, his Lok Sabha constituency, visited the house of Ram Pal Mishra, a Congress worker, who died sometime back. Rahul Gandhi offered condolence to Mishra’s son. The Congress MP from Amethi also paid his condolence to the families of 14 people who died in a road accident on April 11.

Development funds sanctioned for Bundelkhand did not reach people: Rahul Gandhi

Launching a blistering attack on Mayawati for not helping the people of drought-hit Bundelkhand, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said that she was responsible for the plight of the people in that region.“Mayawati never visited the people of Bundelkhand to know their sufferings”, said Rahul Gandhi addressing various public meetings in Uttar Pradesh as part of his Congress campaign in the state.

“She did not consider it is important to visit the drought-hit region to ascertain the gravity of problems being faced by the poor people and the farmers there, further said the Congress leader. Apart from being a backward area, drought has compounded the miseries of the people there, concerned Rahul Gandhi.

“Agriculture has failed due to drought, people are unemployed”, said Rahul Gandhi adding that hunger has led to starvation death and inability to pay back debt has compelled farmers to commit suicides. “Although it was the state government’s duty to find a solution, Mayawati did not help them” complained Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi informed the gathering that Congress (I)-led UPA government at the Centre had approved a relief package of Rs. 8,000 crore for Bundelkhand. The Congress leader added, ‘but the money did not reach the poor. It was swindled by Mayawati government’. People are asking where did the money go which was sent by the Congress led Centre for development, wondered Rahul Gandhi.

Arguing that Mayawati was not at all interested in the welfare of the people of Bundelkhand, Rahul Gandhi asked the people to support Congress (I) to bring back development in Uttar Pradesh.

Non-Congress parties cheating people of UP with false promises to grab votes: Rahul Gandhi

Attacking the non-Congress parties - BSP, SP and BJP – which ruled Uttar Pradesh in the last 22 years without doing anything for the welfare of the people and development of the state, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said that these parties have been cheating people with false promises only to grab their votes. A mere piece of paper listing out various promises is of no use, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting in Lucknow as part of his Congress campaign in the state.

Rahul Gandhi symbolically tore off a paper to show that such promises are useless. Referring to promise by SP to provide free electricity to the people, Rahul Gandhi said that Mulayam during his three tenures as CM did not start a single power plant; then from where would this electricity come. “Will the electricity fall from the sky, asked the Congress MP from Amethi.

Rahul Gandhi did not spare BSP either and said that Mayawati also had promised good governance during 2008 Assembly elections but after becoming the Chief Minister she was running the most corrupt government in the state. Taking on BJP, the young Congress leader said that LK Advani undertook a yatra against corruption but did not mind inducting the most corrupt of UP Babu Singh Kushwaha into the BJP.

Arguing that these non-Congress parties failed to bring about progress and development in the state, Rahul Gandhi requested the people to vote for a change this time and assured that Congress will work to fulfill the aspirations of the people by bring progress and development. ‘We will do all that for the people which these non-Congress parties failed to do during the last 22 years, assured Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi urges people of UP to join him for his fight to transform U.P

All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi told the people of Uttar Pradesh while addressing a big Congress rally at Pratapgarh as part of his campaign in the state for Congress that his fight has been for the people of Uttar Pradesh and to transform the state. “I have been fighting for you in the entire Uttar Pradesh. But you also will have to join me in this battle” said Rahul Gandhi.

“Elections are here in UP. We have been experiencing elections in the past two decades here. But U.P still remains the same without any development,” concerned Rahul Gandhi. “We (Congress) run a Government at the Centre and we do whatever we can do for the states. We send thousands of crores of rupees to Uttar Pradesh. But that did not reach you. This money is yours. This money is the result of the hard work put in by the women. It is you who develop this country with your blood and sweat,” said the Congress leader.

Rahul Gandhi asked why the people from UP are forced to go to other cities for jobs. “No jobs are available for the youth in Uttar Pradesh and therefore they are forced to go to other cities like Maharashtra or Delhi. You built big buildings in Maharashtra and contributed for development but what did you get in return. You were forced to flee from Maharashtra by the Shiv Sena. Haryana and Punjab produce food for the entire food for the country, but they cannot do it without the people of Uttar Pradesh,” added Rahul Gandhi.
