Congress General Secretary and MP from Amethi Rahul Gandhi spoke at the occasion of the convocation ceremony at IIT Amethi and said that the knowledge resides closest to where the problem is.
“So my humble request to you students is that when you are absolutely sure about something, you please question yourself because you may be probably wrong. The other thing I want to tell you about the nature of knowledge. In India this is the big problem” said Rahul Gandhi.
“I could fortunately travel many places across the country and meet a lot of people. So I see multiple perspectives. I could very early found, before talking to poor persons, farmers, other sections, engineers, doctors, that every one’s point of view is important” added the Congress leader.
“You may be good at IT but if you go to a farmer he can tell you much about farming. Knowledge resides closest to where the problem is. So if you are a farmer, you will be having the better knowledge about the farmers. Same is the case with IT. Generally what could see is that the more you are closer towards the problem, you will have better knowledge about that problem” said Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi said “So the first thing I told you was to question yourself. And the second thing is that to gather knowledge, go towards the problem. That is what I did experience. When I go to a poor person’s house and asks about the things he does, I get the knowledge. So I realize that he knows better than me about his nature of job. So it is very important to respect the person’s views who is much closer to the problem”.
“In order to respect the person’s views who is much closer to the problem, you will have to give equal status to that person. There is a feeling among the politicians in India that they are the most knowledgeable persons. Understanding the knowledge is built on the destruction of the knowledge. In our ancient scripts there is a trinity- creator, preserver and destroyer. There is a reason behind it. You cannot have creation without destruction. You cannot have destruction without creation. And you cannot have either of these two without preservation” added the young Congress MP.
“And that is the same with knowledge. To get the current knowledge you will have to destroy the existing knowledge. To destroy the existing knowledge you will have to question yourself. You will have to learn to question yourself and question the persons around you. The more you do that the more knowledgeable you will become” concluded Rahul Gandhi.

People see Maya, Mulayam only during elections: Rahul Gandhi

Slamming non-Congress leaders like Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati for neither meeting the people nor sharing their concerns much less addressing their issues during their tenure in office, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said, “It is a shame that these leaders were seen touring the state only during elections, when they come, make tall promises and deliver loud speeches, only to shut their doors on the common people once they have got installed as chief ministers.” These leaders never bothered about the people even once during those years; they preferred to sit with the rich business men and deal fixers to attend to their needs in turn for hefty money, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing public meetings in Uttar Pradesh for the recently held Assembly elections. Her elephant ate all the public money while the people got nothing. That explains why UP failed to make progress during the last 22 years, he added. Reminding the people that these leaders have been offering them only rosy hopes, Rahul Gandhi urged them this time to vote for Congress (I) and promised that his party would put in place a system which would ensure that the benefits of the welfare schemes reach them and fast track development of the state takes place.

Mayawati even cheated poor women belonging to BPL category: Rahul Gandhi

Lashing out against Mayawati for looting welfare funds meant for the poor, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said that Mayawati government looted money meant for welfare of poor women belonging to BPL category. Mayawati failed to protect even the interests of poor women for whom Congress led center has sent a number of social welfare and health care schemes, said the Congress leader while campaigning for the recently held UP Assembly elections. Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) is one such scheme under National Rural Health Mission. The scheme is meant to encourage institutional delivery of pregnant women. For this Rs 1400 are given to each woman in cash as incentive plus around to Rs. 2,000 to ASHA worker who assist the pregnant woman. But even in this scheme there is scam of Rs 28 crore. For instance in one case a women is shown to have delivered twice in five months. On scrutiny it was found second delivery was bogus. Most bizarre case came to notice in Allahabad district where 619 unmarried girls were shown to have delivered and amount was fraudulently claimed in their names. Highlighting that Mayawati was really not concerned in the welfare of the poor, Rahul Gandhi promised that Congress (I) would ensure that the welfare schemes reach the poor.

Congress hopes Rahul Gandhi’s visit will boost its workers in Karnataka

The Congress unit in the state of Karnataka feels that the Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi‘s two-day visit to Karnataka would give a fillip to the sagging spirits of the party, which is trying to cash in on infighting in the ruling BJP.

Rahul Gandhi addressed a meeting of the Youth Congress’ national executive and also attended a meeting in Davangere with the heads of district Congress committees and block presidents.

“The Congress hopes Rahul’s visit will give the much needed impetus to strengthen the party organisation,” said a Youth Congress leader.

BJP in Karnataka is facing tough times with party strongman and Lingayat leader BS Yeddyurappa challenging the national leadership for not reinstating him as chief minister after being asked to relinquish his post following his indictment in the Lokayukta report on illegal mining in July last year.

Congress hopes to cash in on the internal bickerings in BJP and come back to power next year when assembly elections are due.

The Congress had won the recent Chikmagalur-Udupi Lok Sabha bypoll, where its candidate Jayaprakash Hegde got elected. His victory for the seat, vacated by Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda, has bolstered Congress’ ambition to come back to power.

Last month AICC President Sonia Gandhi had visited Tumkur and met Shivakumara Swami of Siddhaganga Mutt, who commands influence among Lingayats.

Rahul Gandhi to visit Karnataka to revive Congress

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi will be undertaking a two-day visit to Karnataka from June 2 in a bid to revive Congress and to formulate the Congress’s strategy for the 2013 assembly polls in the state.
He will attend the Youth Congress national executive committee meeting in Hubli on June 2. After the meeting, Rahul Gandhi will participate in an interaction session in which he would meet senior citizens, intellectuals, retired officers and Jnanapeeth awardees, and seek their suggestions to make the administration more responsive.
On the second day of his tour, the Congress leader is scheduled to visit Davanagere where he will interact with all elected members of Congress, including members of municipalities and other local bodies. Rahul Gandhi also will address a gathering of about 5,000 elected representatives. The Congress General Secretary will hold discussion with senior leaders and executive committee members of KPCC.
After lunch, Rahul Gandhi will hold an interaction session with students. The state Congress sources say that Rahul Gandhi’s visit will boost the morale of the young in order to build the nation on the lines of secular and progressive line.
