At Phulpur rally Rahul throws light over Bhatta-Parsaul atrocities

The AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi threw light at the plight of the farmers and their families in Bhatta-Parsaul in his addressing to the masses gathered at Phulpur rally in Uttar Pradesh which stroke the beginning of the poll campaign in the state.

“In Bhatta-Parsaul, farmers were shot dead; atrocities were committed against the womenfolk. See what court says, what newspapers say – women were the victims of heinous crimes. Why? Why did this happen - because the land there was being snatched from them,” said the young MP from Amethi.

The Young Congress leader and the face of party for the UP Assembly elections seemed angry over the law and order situation especially the state of affairs in the aftermath of farmers’ agitation at Bhatta-Parsaul.

Rahul Gandhi’s ire has truly come up in a startling way that has sent strong message in media and to the public alike. How people take up this issue and make political and electoral inferences out of it will be important.

Rahul Gandhi: “In 52 days, new land acquisition Bill was presented in Parliament”

In his spectacular addressing to the grand gathering at Phulpur rally starting off the campaign trail for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly election, Rahul Gandhi has depicted the plight of the farmer in India’s most populous state.

“Farmers were dying, they were being shot at. And, what was your government doing, it was just watching. No body went to Bhatta-Parsaul, not even to ask what was happening there. When I went there an officer there told me Naxalites had broken in the region that’s why they fired bullets on them,” said the AICC general secretary.

The Youth Congress leader added, “What we did? Congress party went there. We fought. In 52 days we proposed a new land acquisition Bill in the Parliament. The Bill was placed by the standing committee. Opposing groups are trying to stop it. But, they cannot stop it in the open. They can’t say it openly that they are against it.”

Amethi MP Rahul who is the face of the Congress for the upcoming UP Assembly election, has stricken the right cords by highlighting the plight of the poor peasants and seems all set to ride the ‘Elephant’.
