Rahul Gandhi: We understand people’s issues

Slamming Mayawati’s as well as Mulayam Singh Yadav’s governments for ignoring the problems of the people, AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said, “We understand the issues of the people of UP.” “Twenty-two years have gone by. But what did you get from these parties,” Rahul Gandhi asked the audience while campaigning for the ongoing Assembly elections. BJP only talked about mandir and left after bidding its time. Then Mulayam Singh came and promoted only the interests of his group ignoring the people. Annoyed people put Mayawati in power. But she turned out be worst and unleashed reign of corruption and extortions. Highlighting that the issues of the people and development are more important than the politics of these parties, Rahul Gandhi urged the people to say good bye to these parties and give this time a chance to his party to form government. He assured that Congress (I) will fulfill the aspirations of the people and attend to their issues. “We will do all that these parties failed to do in 22 years,” he added.

Non-congress parties ignored people and development: Rahul Gandhi

Coming down hard against BSP, SP and BJP governments for causing more trouble to the people of the UP for the last two decades, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said these parties ignored people and their issues. “I am often asked why there is no development in UP; why people of UP have to leave their state for jobs outside,” Rahul Gandhi said while campaigning for the ongoing Assembly elections. There is no dearth of money for development but ministers are stealing it, he said. “The money is not reaching you. Influential people do not feel the problems but it is the poor who are suffering,” he told the audience. These parties once in power shut the door on them. Dismayed people perforce leave for Delhi, Haryana and Maharashtra to earn their livelihood. Highlighting that there is need to change this situation, Rahul Gandhi urged the people to vote for his party. He assured that Congress (I) would provide responsive government and create employment opportunities within states by implementing development policies.

Rahul Gandhi in Bisalpur: Congress fulfills its promises

All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is addressing a mammoth election rally at Bisalpur in Pilibhit on Monday. “We too run a Government at the Centre, since 2004. We had not showered promises but assured only one thing – a government of aam aadmi that works for poor, farmers, minorities, women, dalits, Christian, Muslims, Hindu and adivasis. We had told you that our Government will come to you, hear your problems and will support all sections of the people and we delivered it. In 2009, you gave us mandate again, with a better margin,” said the Congress General Secretary.

Only Congress (I) works for the poor, aam aadmi: Rahul Gandhi

Ridiculing BSP for occasional doling out of money to poor people as state charity, AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said Congress (I) is working for empowerment of poor. In the modern times education is of prime importance for any activity, Rahul Gandhi said while campaigning for the ongoing Assembly elections. Congress (I) has therefore brought Right to Education Act which makes available right of education to every child irrespective of financial status of his or her parents whether they can afford it or not. This right has been backed up with appropriate financial allocations and ancillary programs to complement it. In 2011-12, the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan allocation stands at Rs 21,000 crore. Highlighting that Mayawati has been playing upon emotions of the poor only to get their votes, Rahul Gandhi said the poor have not benefited in any way under her regime. He appealed the people to vote for Congress (I) and assured that a government of the poor by Congress (I) will work for welfare of the poor and dalits.

Rahul Gandhi in Bisalpur: For the past 22 years nothing changed in UP

All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi while addressing a mammoth election rally at Bisalpur in Pilibhit on Monday urged the people to help Congress to form a Government of the youth and the aam aadmi that works for all sections of the people. “Normally elections bring in changes at every place. It brings in new concepts too. In U.P too, we have been experiencing elections for the past 22 years. You expected positive changes and fresh concepts after every election. You had supported the Cycle as well as the Elephant. But the state of Utatr Pradesh remains the same without any development” said Rahul Gandhi.

People have the knowledge says Rahul Gandhi in Pilibhit

“People have the knowledge” said Rahul Gandhi – the Congress General Secretary – while addressing a mammoth election rally in Pilibhit as part of his campaign in poll bound Uttar Pradesh said that the leaders in UP are not going to the people for the past 22 years.

Rahul Gandhi then shared one of his experiences with the crowd. “I went to a hospital in UP where some painting and renovation works were going on. I went inside. There were no doctors, patients or nurses. Dogs were scampering inside. I asked them what is going on. They said that Mayawati is on a tour to this area and she will be visiting the hospital and therefore the renovation. As she was expected to take the road route so the roads were being repaired and the hospital building was being painted,” he said and added “This is the situation in the state”.

“These leaders do not want to go to the villages, meet the people, share their meals or drink water from their huts. They think that the duty of the leaders is to talk to the media, give lectures and make promises. But a true leader will go to the people, talk to them and enquire about their issues,” Rahul Gandhi told the crowd.

“We have a Planning Commission in Delhi. The bureaucrats there think that they are the epitome of knowledge about development. I have interacted with them and I have also interacted with the farmers and aam aadmi. If you want to gather information about agriculture, go to the farmers. Or if you want to know about the roads, talk to the workers. The women and the youth in our country possess tremendous knowledge. But these leaders are not interested to gather the same because they are not keen for development,” argued Rahul Gandhi.

They have got only one mission – to loot the public money of the common man,” said the Congress General Secretary amidst loud applauds.

He asked the crowd, “You have been experiencing the regime of different parties – BJP, BSP and SP - in the state for the past 22 years. Did you get anything? Is UP developing?” The crowd responded loudly with ‘no’.

Rahul Gandhi: Central funds not reaching the poor under Maya govt.

Congress (I)-led UPA government at the Centre has been sending funds to the tune of thousands of crores for welfare of the poor, he said. But those funds under her government are not reaching the poor people for whom they are meant. MNREGA scheme was sent for providing employment to the poor belonging to BPL category. The money meant for the poor went into the pockets of the ministers. The poor got nothing. Thousands of crores of funds were made available under NRHM for improving rural health services. Where has that money vanished? If every thing is normal why has Allahabad High Court ordered CBI probe in the matter, asked Rahul Gandhi. Addressing a public meeting for upcoming UP Assembly elections Rahul Gandhi urged people to vote for Congress (I) which would ensure that benefits of welfare schemes reach the poor.
