Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Unchahar, Raebareli urges people to elect a Congress Government in UP


Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress star campaigner, requested the people to support Congress and elect Congress candidates for bringing back development in Uttar Pradesh. She addressed various election meetings in Raebareli during UP assembly elections. While addressing an election meeting at the Unchahar assembly segment in Raebareli, Priyanka Gandhi said that non-Congress governments which ruled the state for 22 years ruined the state of UP.

Rahul Gandhi: Congress is determined to transform UP

Intensifying his scathing attack on the non-Congress parties like BSP, SP and BJP for ruining the state of Uttar Pradesh by their misrule in the last twenty two years making the state most backward, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi reiterated that his party – Congress- is determined to bring in positive changes in UP. “Our (Congress) mission is change the state of affairs of UP,” said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a press conference in Varanasi recently. He also reiterated that his mission is to transform Uttar Pradesh. He will not leave the state till UP stands on its own feet, he added. “My obsession is not to become PM, but to transform UP. UP has lost hope. How do you change a state? When you go to a village, it helps to give the people a hope. I am here to change the living conditions of the people in UP and not to negotiate with any other parties, he asserted. He claimed that that wherever he goes, the people tell him that for the past 22 years, they have been fooled by the government in power. Rahul Gandhi urged the people to support Congress so that it can form a government in UP and assured that a Congress Government would transform the state.

BJP is almost nil in UP, says Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi, the Congress General Secretary, said the BJP in UP is on a ventilator and no one ion UP talks about it, While leading the Congress campaign in Uttar Pradesh the Congress leader took on all non-Congress parties - BJP, SP and BSP - for the pathetic conditions in UP. Referring the principal opposition party in the Parliament BJP, Rahul Gandhi said that the party is almost nil in the state of UP.

Rahul Gandhi has said that there no one in UP believes in BJP anymore. “BJP cheated people and did nothing for the poor. Rather it spoiled the secular fabric of the state”, said the Congress star campaigner. Highlighting that in 2007 Assembly elections Congress (I) had put BJP on ventilator, Rahul Gandhi said this time it will be finished. “The BJP in UP are so frustrated at present. BSP removes the ministers due to corruption and BJP absorbs them” said Rahul Gandhi. The double stance of BJP on corruption is well known to the people of this country, said the Congress leader. That is why it did not support strong Lokpal Bill in the Parliament brought by the Congress.

Sonia Gandhi in Moradabad explains the Congress-led UPA government’s policies


Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi while addressing a mammoth election rally in Moradabad explained various Central welfare policies by the congress led UPA Government at the Centre. “UPA Government has done a number of welfare schemes and policies for the people. We implemented Mahatma Gandhi NREGA policy to address the issue of unemployment in the villages by which every poor is guaranteed for a minimum of 100 days’ job every year. The UPA framed policies like Jawahar Lal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission to ensure house, water and roads, National Rural Health Mission to provide adequate health facilities for the poor, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan to ensure that every children in the age group of 6 to 14 get proper education, Mid-day meal scheme to ensure food to every children in the schools, Pradhanmantri Gram Sadak Yojana, opened up new Universities and implemented Rajiv Gandhi Electrification Scheme to provide electricity at every place”.

Sonia Gandhi in Moradabad: MNREGA, NRHM funds were swindled out in corruption in UP


Sonia Gandhi while addressing an election rally in Moradabad said that the Centre made a number of schemes for the development of U.P and sent thousands of crores of rupees to the state under various schemes. “The Government at the Centre sent more than one lakh crore rupees to Uttar Pradesh. But it is a matter of great concern that the people of Uttar Pradesh could not avail the benefits. All these funds were swindled out in corruption and scams. There are reports of corruption in MNREGA and NRHM schemes,” she concerned.

Referring the policies by the Centre for minorities Congress President Sonia Gandhi said, “It was Congress which implemented policies for the minorities. Congress implemented the recommendations of the Sachar Committee. For the first time in the history, a separate ministry for the minorities was formed. We also gave loan worth five lakh crores of rupees under the Prime Minister’s fifteen point programme for minorities. Under Sarva Shiksha Abiyan several new schools and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas were opened at various minority dominated areas. We also increased the budget for the Maulana Azad Foundation to provide financial assistance for the modernization of the madrasas.

But due to the wrong policies of the state Government the farmers in UP could not avail its benefits. We increased the procurement prices to help the farmers. There is no shortage of fertilizers at the Centre and it sent fertilizers to UP, too. But because of the corrupt distribution system by the state Government, the farmers are not able to get adequate fertilizers in UP,” she added.

Rahul Gandhi blames caste-based politics for bad state of affairs in UP

Attacking the caste-based political formations in Uttar Pradesh, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said that the bad state of affairs in UP would continue as long as the people allow the reign of parties like the BJP, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) to continue.

Rahul Gandhi who led the Congress campaign in the populous state of Uttar Pradesh said, “Caste or religion based political parties are hindering growth and development of UP; Congress (I) is the only party, which believes in inclusive growth, can serve the interests of all sections of society irrespective of caste, freed, religion and community. Now, the people of UP are seeking a change and only the Congress can change the destiny of the state in next decade.”

Rahul Gandhi pointed out that under the present political dispensation in UP, the poor were being denied employment and farmers being forcibly dispossessed of their land. When farmers ask for compensation, they receive bullets and are branded as Naxals by the state government, concerned Rahul Gandhi.
