Rahul Gandhi at Sant Ravidas Temple
Election heat is slowly picking up in Uttar Pradesh and Congress has been doing all its good efforts to regain its lost glory in the upcoming assembly elections. It is now clear that General Secretary Rahul Gandhi will be spearheading the Congress campaign and he is about to launch his election campaign from Phulphur, the constituency of his great grand father and former Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru.
Rahul Gandhi always loved to be among the masses, interacting with the common people, enquiring about the local problems, sharing lunch or dinner with local residents and on many occasions he made it a practice to visit the places without any proper notice and advanced planning. He did it again and is now in Varanasi on a surprise visit. As a part of his mass contact program, Rahul Gandhi, without any notice or information in advance, reached Sant Ravi Das Mandir in Varanasi and offered prayers in the temple. Rahul Gandhi spent about half and hour at the temple and also attended the 'satsang' (prayer meeting) there. He further visited the banks of river Ganga where people are offering prayers during the Chhath festival and interacted with them. Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit the naxal affected areas of Chakia in Chandoli district.
Congress is hopeful that this unique style of functioning and the mass appeal of Rahul Gandhi would help them positively in the coming elections.
