Even mothers are devoid of benefits and facilities in Uttar Pradesh: Rahul Gandhi

The Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has once talked about the NRHM scam and Janani Surakhsha Yojna on a social forum. He was addressing a mammoth turnout at a public meet in Balrampur in Uttar Pradesh, on Day 3 of his five day UP tour.

Rahul also spoke for the NRHM scam under which thousands of crores of money has been siphoned off by the ruling state government under the BSP. He said the politicians, the bureaucrats and the BSP workers have looted the money meant for the noble cause of maternal health.

“I will talk about Janani Surakhsha Yojna. Women are given a sum of Rs. 1,400 on giving birth to a child in hospital. What’s happening in UP. Money is to be given by the women to avail the facility,” said the young Congress leader.

The Congress MP from Amethi told that the officials have to be bribed in order to avail the facility under the health programme. Half of the money is to be given to them, he said.

“The officials have to be bribed. Half of the money is to be given to them. I’ll tell you an incident. A woman gave birth to a child in a hospital. Her baby was taken and was given only on given thousand rupees,” added the Youth Congress leader.

Rahul Gandhi has projected the worsened state of health facility in the state and the grave misuse of the NRHM funds and the mismanagement of the maternal health programme. It is unfortunate even mothers are not exempted.
