Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi during his interaction with farmers said,
My view and my government's view is that if one doesn't include the poor in the process of growth, that is injustice with the poor.
We will try to bring in a legislation which will benefit the farmers and the labourers.

For development and growth acquisition of land is necessary, where and in which manner the land is being acquired is most important.
Today what is happening in Uttar Pradesh is that land is being acquired in the name of development and growth and farmers are not getting proper compensation and that land is being transfered to the builders. If the land goes to the builders there is no development. India needs roads and if that road is built on your land a lot of people uses it and benefits. But if that land is given to a builder only one person gets benefited and this is the real issue of concern.
Generally theft takes place in the night but in Uttar Pradesh this is happening in the day light.

You have to understand onething, if your land is taken away by the state government, the central government can't do anything about it. The Central Government can make the laws in Delhi. In order to bring in a legislation one needs time. If one gives you a legislation in five minutes, it will be a faulty one. We want to bring in a legislation which lasts for 20-25-30 years. In Delhi we have a coalition government, there are a lot of parties, one has to consult them. That's why it takes time. There is a discussion going on in the NAC and the Government and we are talking to our partners, you will get a nice legislation very soon.

You should understand one thing very clearly, if you are asking about the Uttar Pradesh Government, we can't help you because we are not running this government. You have your government in Lucknow, go and ask them. If you want to ask me this question , bring in a Congress Government and then ask me this question.

We run the Central Government and it's for the poor and the aam admi. In Uttar Pradesh if Congress comes to power it will be not my but your government. That will not be Congress party's government. It will be the Government of people of Uttar Pradesh.
