Rahul Gandhi inaugurated a memorial dedicated to one of India's leading religious symbol of unity. Reiterating Congress Party’s commitment towards all the religious communities, General Secretary Rahul Gandhi inaugurated a memorial dedicated to the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur on the Delhi-Haryana border on July 29.
The foundation stone of the Memorial located on the Singhu border of Delhi and Haryana on National Highway 1 had been laid by the Congress President Sonia Gandhi in 2003.
The memorial is unique in concept and design. It comprises of 40 plaques on which are inscribed the fundamental tenets of Sikhism. The memorial has been constructed at a cost of Rs 25 crores and will be a land mark of the national capital.
While unveiling the memorial, Rahul Gandhi said all of us should take inspiration from the life of Guru Tegh Bhadur. He laid down his life for the cause of India.
The Congress General Secretary said India belongs to people of all religions. Sikhs people have made their valuable contribution to the nation. They are spread all over India. They are hard working and dedicated.
On this occasion Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit along with other cabinet members was also present.
