Latest news - Sonia Gandhi recuperating after successful surgery
Congress President Sonia Gandhi underwent a successful surgery and is now recuperating in the US. UPA Chairperson who was recently diagnosed for a medical condition which required surgery, was operated upon on August 4 in the United States and is presently recuperating in ICU.
She is stable and would take two-three weeks to fully recover, said the party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi.
Her children Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra and son-in-law Robert Vadra are with her and constantly attending upon her.
The party spokesman said this being a personal matter pertaining to her health and medical treatment, her family has requested that her privacy be respected.
As Chairperson of the UPA, Sonia Gandhi's presence is being very much missed in the on-going parliamentary session, particularly when a number of important legislative measures are coming up which are close to the heart of the Congress President.
