In his emotive addressing to the big gathering at a Phulpur rally starting off the campaign trail for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly election, Rahul Gandhi has depicted the plight of the Bundelkhand farmers.
“The Prime Minister granted a package of INR 7000 crore to (drought prone) Bundelkhand and sent the money. We came to Bundelkhand to talk about the package but nothing could be found there of its implementation,” said the young Congress MP from Amethi.
Rahul went on to say, “There is one Munna Prajapati (in drought-prone Bundelkhand) there who, a few years back, met me. He told me his father died of hunger. He had to migrate from there - one has to go to Mumbai, Delhi, Punjab... When will development come to my place Bundelkhand?” said the young MP from Amethi.
“When will progress come? He was asking this question to me. Who will answer him – if not the state government, then the God will answer?” the Congress General Secretary added.
As the young Gandhi continues to show his aura, plenty more like this display of concerns, in fact, more powerful than this one, are likely to come up as the electoral tempo gets high in UP.
