Tasking a dig at the ruling BJP in the state of Uttarakhand which is going to polls on January 30, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said that Congress gathers information regarding people’s issues not from TV but from the people directly. He was referring to the erstwhile ‘India Shining’ slogan of BJP in 2004. BJP had said that they found the slogan from a TV advertisement. “Congress goes to the people, talk to them and enquire about their problems. We then make policies to solve their grievances” claimed Rahul Gandhi.
“Why do we make such schemes?” he asked and quipped “we come to you to realise your pain. We gather information not from the TV but directly from the people. We know that no one can provide us the knowledge that we get from the poor, labourers and farmers.”
Once again taking a dig at BJP Rahul Gandhi said “When we talk about the rights of the people and frame policies for the poor BJP asks us from where we will have the money for the schemes. We showed them from where the money will come” he informed. “This is the money of your sweat and blood. This money is the result of hard work of your farmers and labourers. If the country is developing it is because of your efforts, blood and sweat,” said Rahul Gandhi amidst applauds. “We do only one thing. We ensure that the money we received from you reaches back to you,” he asserted.
