Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, in her first election rally for 2012 Assembly elections in Punjab on Thursday lashed out at SAD-BJP government saying it has pushed Punjab backward in the last five years.
Addressing a mammoth public rally in Kapurthala Sonia Gandhi said “The central schemes are not reaching the common men of Punjab. The present regime of the state has failed to utilise hundreds of crores funds coming from the centre.”
The Congress president said that the farmers of the state are a neglected lot under the present SAD-BJP rule. The UPA Chairperson also alleged that Badals in Punjab favoured only their own family. Assuring that Congress is committed for development Sonia Gandhi said that her party is committed to development and will certainly bring the state back on its feet if voted to power.
