Rattling Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav as well as BJP for having ruled the state by putting out false promises over the last 22 years, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said these parties betrayed the trust the people had put in them. These parties being used to duping the people are terming honest efforts of Congress (I) as drama, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting in Pratapgarh on February 16 for the ongoing Assembly elections. Referring to welfare and development schemes launched by Congress (I)-led UPA government, he said Mayawati has called MNREGA – a guaranteed employment scheme for the poor – a drama. His visits to villages have been dubbed as drama by Mulayam Singh Yadav, he further said. “If visiting villages is a drama then I will keep doing such dramas and I will keep visiting your homes,” he told the audience. Blaming these parties for playing caste-based politics in the state, Rahul Gandhi said they failed to address the issues of the people. Highlighting that despite 22 years of rule by these parties there is no development and the condition of the people remain as before, Rahul Gandhi urged the people to vote for change this time and assured that Congress (I) will work for welfare of the people and development of the state. “We will do all that these parties failed to do in the last 22 years,” he added.
