Lashing out against Mayawati for neglecting development of the most populous state of the country, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said the youth is now impatient for change. Why the youth is not getting employment in their own state, he asked while addressing public meetings for the ongoing UP Assembly elections 2012. Congress (I)-led UPA government launched MNREGA – a flagship scheme – for providing guaranteed employment to the poor, said Rahul Gandhi. It is a poverty alleviation scheme which provides minimum 100 days guaranteed employment just for the asking @ Rs 120 per day, ensuring minimum income of Rs 12,000. While this scheme is tremendous success in Congress (I) ruled states, in UP Mayawati stole the money and the poor got nothing. Highlighting that the youth of UP is hardworking, talented and capable of bring the change, Rahul Gandhi said, the youth needs a leader to hold their hands and lead them. This has fired the imagination of the youth who are turning to Rahul Gandhi for leadership. Responding to the feelings of the youth, Rahul Gandhi has exhorted them this time to vote for his party and assured them that Congress (I) will unleash their potential to develop UP to No 1 state in the country.
