Sonia Gandhi tells voters: Election is an occasion to change your future

Congress President and the chairperson of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Sonia Gandhi while addressing a mammoth rally in Allahabad as part of her campaign for Congress in the crucial state of Uttar Pradesh where the assembly polls are underway said that the time has come to change the pathetic state of affairs in the state. She said that by the anti-poor policies by the anti-poor governments in the state for the past 22 years, the state of Uttar Pradesh has slipped down sharply.

“Who is responsible for this?” she asked and added, “the parties that ruled the state for the past 22 years and did nothing for development are responsible. Now who will change this? Who will make a responsible system?” she asked.

Sonia Gandhi then reminded the people, “this is your responsibility. This is the occasion to take a proper decision. Election is to decide your future. The world changes in five years. The future starts changing in five years. Now you will have to script the future of Uttar Pradesh. This election is not a simple one. For the past few years you have witnessed a long period of corruption, dishonesty and injustice because of the dubious intention of the parties who ruled the state for the past few years. These parties blame each other during elections just to secure your votes, but later join hands for their selfish interests.”

Sonia Gandhi claimed that only a Congress Government can put an end to these miseries and urged the voters to support and elect Congress candidates so as to ensure a good future for the state and the people.
