Mayawati avoids poor and aam aadmi: Rahul Gandhi

Pointing out that Mayawati is responsible for the present plight of the poor in Uttar Pradesh, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said she has been following anti-poor policies. “Did she visit your village in the last five years to know your problem,” he asked the audience during his campaign for the ongoing Assembly elections. After becoming chief minister she has forgotten about the poor. In her cozy bungalow she thinks everything is alright outside. Being a cleaver politician she has been throwing out occasional cash money to the poor to keep them on short leash. She has not worked out much less launched capacity building programs for them to enable them to stand on their feet. She wants to keep her flock together for her own vote bank politics rather than think about empowering them. Obviously being apprehensive that self-sustaining and educated dalits will fly off to other destinations, she cannot do more for them than they can do for her. Highlighting that Mayawati is more interested in the vote of the poor rather than their welfare, Rahul Gandhi urged the people to vote for Congress (I) in their own interest. He assured that Congress (I) will work for their welfare and ensure that the benefits of the welfare schemes reach them without fail.
