Mayawati making money, not serving people: Rahul Gandhi

Hitting out against Mayawati of being more interested in making money than serving the people, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said she has no time to serve the people. She does not bother to meet the poor to know their problems, said Rahul Gandhi while campaigning for the upcoming Assembly elections. A case of possession of disproportionate assets is being investigated by CBI against Mayawati since 2003. CBI has said her declared assets of Rs 1 crore in 2003 went up to Rs 50 crore in 2007. There is enough evidence that she amassed wealth disproportionate to her known sources of income. During the probe, Mayawati claimed that she received the money through donations from party workers, which included meager sums of Rs 5 and Rs 10. Instead of boldly facing the charges of corruption to get honorable acquittal from the courrt she rushed to the Supreme Court for obtaining stay order in the corruption case against her, said Congress (I). This shows Mayawati does not want the investigation agency to pursue corruption case against her thus defeating the investigation process, said Congress (I). Highlighting that she was really not interested in the welfare of the poor, Rahul Gandhi urged the people this time to vote for Congress (I) and assured them corruption-free government.
