Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi who has been leading the Congress campaign in the poll bound Uttar Pradesh said that the state of UP has been destroyed by the successive non-Congress rule in the past 22 years. “If voted to power, Congress will ensure rapid and all-round development of the region” he promised. Rahul Gandhi blamed the successive non-Congress governments in the state for its present plight.
Addressing various public rallies in Uttar Pradesh, , Rahul Gandhi said that when he visited Bundelkhand two years ago, he saw the plight of the people. “No one, BJP, SP or BSP went there. The present Mayawati Government ignored the plight of the people there. Even I had requested her to please vist the region, but she did not” said Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi then went on to inform the people the intervention he did to get a Rs. 8000 crore package released by the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre. “But that money too ate up by the magic elephant of Mayawati in Lucknow. The tractors meant for the farmers went to minister’s children” added the Congress General Secretary.
