Lashing out against Mayawati for keeping Uttar Pradesh lagging behind in development, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has promised that Congress (I) will transform UP into a progressive state within 5 years. In another 5 years UP will become No. 1 state in the country. It is all possible, he said while campaigning for the UP Assembly elections. People of UP are committed, hard working and talented, he said adding the youth has to leave UP in search of job in other states because Mayawati failed to undertake development in the state. There are no employment opportunities in the state and unemployment has reached alarming situation, he further said adding that this can not be allowed to go on for ever. Rahul Gandhi said all the previous governments in the last 22 years have been giving empty promises to the people while engaging themselves in loot of government money and manipulating the things for their own personal interests. “Tell me which state under Congress (I) rule has not developed,” he asked the audience. Highlighting that Mayawati had betrayed the trust the people had put in her, Rahul Gandhi promised that Congress (I) if voted to power this time will change the fortunes of the state.
