Slamming non-Congress leaders like Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati for neither meeting the people nor sharing their concerns much less addressing their issues during their tenure in office, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said, “It is a shame that these leaders were seen touring the state only during elections, when they come, make tall promises and deliver loud speeches, only to shut their doors on the common people once they have got installed as chief ministers.” These leaders never bothered about the people even once during those years; they preferred to sit with the rich business men and deal fixers to attend to their needs in turn for hefty money, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing public meetings in Uttar Pradesh for the recently held Assembly elections.
