Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi who had paid a visit
to Amethi recently had exhorted the Congress workers to be more active and
vigilant and also to start preparations for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The
Congress MP from Amethi also promised that they would not be neglected and
their grievances would be looked into. He was on a tour to his parliamentary
constituency, Amethi.
Rahul Gandhi who arrived at the Fursatganj airport, drove to
Himanshu Junior High School in Kokari area for a meeting with workers of Deeh
block. Several congress workers complained that their voice was not heard and
they have to stand in long queues to meet their leaders. Rahul Gandhi assured
that that there was no question of neglect as workers are the "strength of
the party". The Congress leader
told them to change their mindset and dedicate themselves for the Lok Sabha
elections in 2014.
"No one is big or small in the organization, all workers are equal... As far as Amethi is concerned it is not politics but family ties which bring me here... I want to take forward the works started by Rajiv Gandhi," Rahul Gandhi asserted.
The Congress Mp also assured that in the upcoming industries
such as Malvika Steel in Jagdispur and Ordnance factory in Munshiganj, locals
in large numbers would get jobs. Rahul Gandhi asked the workers of Deeh to
apprise people outside of the work being done by the party. "Our works are
not properly published among the people therefore others take advantage of the
situation," said Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi assured
that he would visit Amethi again next month and would resolve their demand for
hand pumps and road repair. Earlier on arrival, Rahul Gandhi made a brief stop
at a carpenter's shop near the airport and inquired about the work from its
owner Sahdev Sharma.
