Congress: Mayawati misused Central funds to construct parks and statues

There is just no end to the war of words between the Congress and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati over Rahul Gandhi’s remarks regarding the prevailing state of affairs in India’s most populous state.

The Congress is furious at the comments of Mayawati that instead of indulging in “vote bank politics” and expressing his anger against the state government, Mr. Gandhi should vent his ire at the Central government.

The Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi criticized the ruling state government and said, “Mayawati has misused funds in constructing parks and erecting statutes including her own, which is unheard of in our country.”

The systematic campaign of Mayawati against the Congress is a sign that she is concerned at the prospect of the Congress hurting chances of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the Assembly election.

More of this heated exchange is bound to take place in the days to come. Though nobody’s going to win with the words, they certainly contribute in creating the atmosphere for such political battles.
