Congress (I) has said turnout of enthusiastic audience at Rahul Gandhi’s Phulpur public meeting on November 14 points to deep disenchantment of people with Mayawati government. The Congress (I) leader spoke in straight language referring to past Uttar Pradesh which was once a leading state in the country but is now lagging behind in development; it’s proud, hardworking youths are unemployed and leaving their hearths and homes to seek employment opportunities in other states. This situation has arisen because mafia and criminals have grabbed power and ruined the once prosperous state. To change all Rahul Gandhi stressed upon the need to bring in Congress (I) government which, he assured, would work for development of the state and would be responsive to the needs of the people. The audience was so much impressed with matter-of-fact speech of Rahul Gandhi that they felt surcharged and seemed in no mood to leave the venue. Seeing the public mood Congress (I) has said in Assembly elections people are going to reject Mayawati government and put the Congress (I) in driver’s seat in Uttar Pradesh.
