Lashing out at Mayawati for not fulfilling her promises to the people after having been four times Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said that she could not provide even basic facilities to the people in the state. Rahul Gandhi also expressed his concern over the fact that even safe drinking water was not available under her regime. The Congress General Secretary was addressing public meetings in Uttar Pradesh as part of his Congress campaign during the recently held assembly polls in UP. Her failure to do this confirms that she lacks will as well as ability to implement pro-people measures, further said the Congress MP. “Roads in the state have more pit holes than tar on the surface. Canals are dry. Rivers are contaminated with industrial effluents. In many districts safe drinking water is not available. Health care services are nearly non-existent in some districts in spite of Rs 10,000 crores funds provided by the center for this very purpose under NRHM. People are angrily asking where the money has disappeared sent by Congress (I)-led UPA government for welfare and development schemes” added Rahul Gandhi. Alleging that all the non-Congress parties which had ruled the state during the last twenty years have been looting the government treasury, Rahul Gandhi urged the people to reject these non-Congress parties.
