Rahul Gandhi: UP needs a Congress govt. to ensure that voice of the people reach Lucknow

Lashing out at Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav as well as BJP for ignoring the aspiration of the people, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has assured the people of Uttar Pradesh that Congress (I) will ensure that the voice of the people is heard in Lucknow.

These non-Congress parties have been giving hollow promises to the people in the state but have never delivered anything in the last twenty two years, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a huge public gathering in Hardoi as part of his campaign for the Congress in the recently held Assembly elections in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Rahul Gandhi also blamed Mayawati for neglecting the plight of Bundelkhand which was her duty to attend. The young Congress MP from Amethi added that when the people from the drought-hit region approached Congress (I)-led UPA government, it had sanctioned Rs 8,000 crore relief package for the drought hit region.

Rahul Gandhi did not spare Mulayam Singh Yadav either. The Congress leader alleged that Mulayam Singh Yadav had promised to convert Bundelkhand into Israel but the people in Bundelkhand want water and electricity, not Israel. Rahul Gandhi also took on the BJP by saying that it had coined ‘India Shining’ slogan by seeing a TV advertisement but its leaders never visited the houses of poor to see they were living in gloom and poverty.

The Congress leader reminded the gathering that this situation should not be allowed to continue. Rahul Gandhi had requested the people to vote for Congress (I) and assured that his party –Congress- will take the voice of the people to Lucknow and make sure that it is heard.
